5 Ways to Shift Your State of Mind In Order to Experience Celebration

Perhaps you think of celebration as “feeling good.” What if experiencing celebration is a choice? Waiting until you feel good may mean that you are missing out on an experience that can be healing and which can then take you to feeling good.
This time of year do you ever just want to go back to bed and pull the covers over your head? Here are some things that can keep us from celebrating.
- Physical ailments.
- Internet or devices that don’t work right.
- Awareness of how the world seems so out of sync.
- Old family patterns that show up at gatherings.
- Weather is too cold or too hot.
- And so much more.
Celebrating might be the last thing you want to do!
But here’s the thing, celebrating is a state of mind. Will we let our current state of mind dictate what we experience?
If you say “no,” how do you change your current state of mind?
If you are feeling low energy, discouraged with what’s happening in the world, sick of old patterns that show up or not feeling well, join me in these simple exercises:
- Find a way to connect to nature.
Do you have a plant that is special to you? What is the view out your window? Can you remember a time you were out in nature that felt magical? - Connect to an animal.
On my walk, Brody used to come across the field to greet me. He’s a big, shaggy black dog who was always happy to see me. He frolicked along the fence as I walked back home from the mailbox. He moved with his family, but I still think of him when I walk by the big field where he romped.

My cat Checkers cuddles-in next to me in my chair as I watch TV. They say that a cat’s purr is 4th dimensional. All I know is that it makes me happy.

- Think of something you are grateful for.
I’m thankful for family and friends. We are different in many ways. I can learn a lot from our differences. - Remember something magical that you experienced in your life.
I remember looking into the sparkling eyes of my very young daughter. She was so curious about what was around her. - Draw in and release some deep breaths.
As we breathe deeply, our energy expands. That expansion seems to shift our point of view.
I don’t know about you, but I feel better! Just doing this exercise reminds me that I do have the ability to change my state of mind. After all, a state of mind is energy; how we feel is about energy. Lifting our energy frequency changes what we feel, think, notice, and do.
What is next for us in our day now depends on us. We can stay in this higher frequency or roll back to where we started. Neither choice is wrong, but choosing this higher frequency can be the beginning of celebration. Celebration creates a magnetism that brings us more experiences to celebrate, which can be very healing.
What will you choose today? Not because you think you should choose a certain way of being, but because you can.
Blessings,
