Dialoging with colors is an interesting journey. I have loved color all my life, but I never truly understood its influence until I took a two year course to become a Spiritual Guide & Healing Facilitator. During that course we were introduced to many ways to enhance well-being.
One of my greatest revelations was that everything is made of energy and that energy is in motion.
Your body needs certain energy frequencies that show up as color. When these frequencies slow down or are blocked this affects you on all levels. Our language suggests this. For example, you might say, “She’s green with envy or “He’s so blue” (sad or depressed). This means that the frequencies of green and blue are not vibrating properly. Something has interrupted the flow. You might think of it like a river. After a storm, there may be branches or debris that disrupt the flow. Too much water can cause the flow to be too powerful. Too little water can slow the river or even cause it to dry up in areas. So if your well-being is dependent on this flow of colorful energy, it’s important that you know when energy frequencies have been disrupted and how to bring them back into balance.
When you dislike or avoid a certain color this indicates that the color is not flowing properly. Something has disrupted it.
In this article, you will learn some of the indications that yellow is not flowing properly. From that, you can discover where yellow may be unbalanced in you. Then, you will be guided through a visualization to bring yellow back into balance.
How Others Experience Your Energy When Yellow is Out of Balance
You affect people through the energy field around you. When your yellow is out of balance, people around you feel uncomfortable. So, balance is important to you on two fronts: what you experience, and how your energy affects others.
What Yellow Can Tell You When yellow is not flowing, the most common experiences are:- Lack of confidence
- Unable to make clear decisions
- Letting others define who you are
- Lack of boundaries
- Obsessed with justice
As Juan grew up he was told many times to be strong like a man. He wasn’t sure what that meant, but he soon learned to act as if he knew what he was doing. Showing any weakness wouldn’t do. This way of living made it difficult to ask for help or admit that he didn’t know how to do something.
Sometimes when he would forge ahead on a project, he got into trouble because he didn’t have all the information or experience he needed. This made him doubt his abilities and caused him to wonder if he was smart enough.
Your Experiences with Yellow Since you chose yellow as the color you like least, there is some imbalance in this color in your energy field which needs to be transformed. Which of the suggested experiences with unbalanced yellow sound familiar to you? Transforming Unbalanced Yellow EnergyYellow by itself can become too much or too little depending on what you are experiencing in your life. In other words what happens from day to day can throw you off balance. You are then seeing the situation from one angle that is limited by your experience.
In order to reach an “aha” that lets you gain a new perspective, your viewpoint has to broaden. Color offers a simple way to change your energy and shift what you think. Let’s say that you find yourself doubting whether you can put together the new piece of furniture you bought unassembled. Your mind is repeating what you heard as a child, “Girls don’t belong in the workshop!” This message might cause you to question your ability and thus is a message that comes from unbalanced yellow.
Now let’s bring in yellow’s color complement purple (found across from yellow on the color wheel). Purple can shift this old message by accessing your deeper knowing. Imagine that purple helps you step away from the message you were given as a child. You can now observe it through an objective lens.
From this new point of view, you realize that what you heard was your father’s opinion, not fact. Perhaps if you follow the directions step by step you can figure out how to assemble it. The “aha” is your new information–a new possible solution. You do not need to stay stuck in an old limiting thought.
And here’s something surprising. By moving into a quiet space and asking the complementary color purple to help balance yellow’s energy, this shift can take place without thinking about it. Working together, the color vibrations shift the energy that was stuck in an old thought. As that energy begins to move easily in yellow’s natural frequency, new thoughts and possible solutions emerge.

This changes how you see the situation. You become the observer so that new ways to resolve a lack of confidence begin to arise.

Experiencing Balance in Yellow Approach this visualization as if you were dreaming or using your imagination. Your mind does not need to make sense of it.* Take a few deep breaths. Allow yourself to relax with each breath.
Imagine you are in a beautiful garden. Ahead of you, appears a figure. This guide has come to help you create balance between yellow and purple.
First you are asked to put on a yellow shirt. Breathe in the yellow color of the shirt. Feel it. It is soft and light. Notice how it feels against your skin. Just be with whatever experience comes.
Ask yellow if it will partner with purple in order to balance your energy. Wait until you know that yellow has agreed.
The guide then offers you a luxurious purple robe. You’re not sure you deserve such royalty. Breathe in the purple color. Notice how it seeps into your body along with the yellow.
Let purple know that yellow needs its help. Ask if it will partner with yellow to bring balance to yellow’s frequency. Wait until you feel that purple has agreed to help.
Observe how the two colors meet and begin to transform your yellow energy. However that happens is what is just right for you.
Notice anything that seems to be changing. Don’t analyze it – just notice what you happens.
When you feel the colors have brought you a new sense of balance, they can go back to where they naturally belong in your body and energy field. Thank them. Wave goodbye to the guide and begin to walk out of the garden.
Take several deep breaths.
Begin to come back into this moment. Notice the chair you are sitting in. Take another deep breath. When you are ready, open your eyes and look at your hands so that you will be fully present.
You may feel something right away or you may notice changes over time. Take notes so you can be fully aware of what happens.
