How to Stay Centered During Times of Chaos

Are you feeling off-center? Many of us do. — At the very least there are days when we feel that

way. Have you found a way to return to your centered self during these times? Would you like to find a way?

Let’s look at how we get off-center and the process for coming back to a centered confidence and calm.

Crucial to this process is to first recognize that you are off-center. In times of chaos, it is easy to be drawn into the frequency of the chaos. The underlying unsettled feeling may have become familiar and you may have subconsciously accepted the energy of drama as normal.

You may discover that you are holding yourself in a ready-mode, always prepared for the next shoe to drop! That state of mind puts stress on your body because it never has a chance to take a deep breath and recover in an organic and natural way. You experience a sense of tightness in your body, mind, and spirit.

As you focus on the tightness, it may seem like it has always been there. Learning ways to relieve that ongoing programing will allow you to create a “new normal,” a different, more centered way to live. You will then experience the calm of being organically and naturally centered.

How do you know when you are not centered? The fastest and most accurate way is to become familiar with what you are feeling through your body. Many of us live in our minds or our attention is always focused on what we are thinking or planning. If that has been your experience, your life becomes all about getting things done.

Some people allow themselves to feel centered by making sure they don’t get blamed for the drama and chaos around them. They tend to find all kinds of ways to point out something outside of them that is to blame.

In that mode, you never go inward to assess what is happening inside of you. In the process, you give away your inner confidence and calm. Again you are always on alert to shift attention away from yourself to what others are doing wrong or how the system (government, schools, etc.) has failed and made things worse.

Your body never gets your attention or love. It feels abandoned.

There was a time in my life when I realized that I unconsciously believed that I wasn’t feeling alive unless there was drama or chaos going on. That realization was a shock to me. Without realizing it, I believed that the energy of the drama was an indication that I was alive and engaged.

Take a moment to check in with yourself. Is there any part of you that carries or has carried that belief? Let your body show you where this energy might be by highlighting where you feel tight.

If you find that you expect or have become used to the energy of the drama, I encourage you to be compassionate with yourself. Being human in times of chaos is  a challenge for all of us. Will we continue to allow ourselves to be swept into the drama or will we move inward to find the programming or unconscious responses that result in more drama and more tension in the body? We do have a choice, even when some part of us feels there are no good choices.

Many of the “tools” offered at Transformational Tools evolved from my personal experiences. They also came from challenges experienced by students or clients.

You have most likely learned some ways to calm yourself. It can be as simple as connecting with nature, a child or grandchild, a pet, or a precious memory that feels very comforting.

But, you can’t get there unless you stop long enough to feel what you are experiencing in your body. Your body can guide you to where the tension has lodged itself and often the body can give you clues about what that tension is about.

If you would like to learn some new tools for centering in confidence and calm, I recommend our beginning courses.

Thrive as a Highly Sensitive/Intuitive Person helps you understand the tension that has come from being different, knowing things that others don’t seem to know, or being mystified by what others accept as normal. Once you own and celebrate who you are, the tension can dissolve.

Empower and Embrace Your Inner Masculine and Feminine brings you to your center by revealing the Active Masculine Energy and Receptive Feminine Energy that is in each and every one of us. But, because of collective programming, you may have thought that a female or male had to be a certain way. That belief can heap layers of tension and stress on you. These layers may have come from family beliefs that  go back generations. This course provides an opportunity for you to shed what isn’t true for you and replace it with what you know to be true that has been lodged in the deepest part of you.

Color Course 101 guides you to find the tension in your body and shows you how to relieve the tension through breathing and swirling colors. Does that seem too easy? In a way, it can happen so quickly that it can feel miraculous! I never cease to be surprised by the power of the frequencies of color to change tight energy into flowing energy and tension into calm. In the process, you feel more yourself. You gain confidence and trust in you.

I live in the Woodland, WA area in a beautiful apartment in my daughter’s home. I am surrounded by trees, flowers, and a magical ravine where I meditate by the bubbling brook. My cat Checkers keeps me company and I am his entertainment as he follows me around my apartment. He is recovering from a near fatal encounter with a predator from the woods. For now, he is a house cat and if he ever goes outside, it will be daytime and in my yard!

It is my calling, my life purpose, to create tools for self-healing. The frequencies of color used in complementary pairs become personal companions, moving with you through the many stages of healing. After all these years, I am still astounded how colors can create immediate healing frequency changes. The more your consciousness and theirs work together, the deeper the healing.
